Our Aim

Extreme World Challenges is normally a profit making organisation but does support local UK charities such as the Dogs Trust.  It was decided however to run Yak Attack as a non profit making event with an aim to benefit Nepali athletes and the Annapurna region communities as a whole on a number of levels.

Firstly by taking this event to Nepal and attracting international competitors we are giving the local athletes a chance to compete in a field that they would normally never be able to afford.  The average wage in Nepal is $70 pm and so to travel and compete outside the country is beyond the means of the majority of even the most talented sportsmen.  A primary objective of this event is to support, provide assistance both financially and with equipment for the local riders and runners. The 2007 competitors took part with minimal support, inadequate equipment and without the advantage of sports specific nutrition yet still finished on average at least 10 hours ahead of their international competitors.  The potential to find another world class athlete is immense.
